At almost 7 acres of land Kingsboro Common’s main design objective was to maximize all efforts for the surrounding community. This began with the initiative of giving as much outdoor space to the community as possible. The North / South axis, known as the Commons, took advantage of the existing hill-scape of the site and allowed for Clarkson busy street to open out onto an expansive green space. By carving out this space, the building masses created a language as to its interactions with private and public area. Facades that faced onto the public park and street carried a different materiality then those facing on the private courtyards.
